Outlet Tester

This is a very handy testing tool, to use simply plug into an outlet and the sequence of on and off coloured indicator lights will tell you if the outlet is correctly wired or which connections are at fault.

Bear in mind though faults may have resulted in an onward cable from a previously item such as a previous outlet if the onward cable was wired incorrectly.

Black / or red wire should be on the brass color screw, the white wire on the silver color screw, and the bare wire connected to the equipment grounding screw of outlet.
